Chapter 411 - Forgotten Memories [1]
Chapter 411 - Forgotten Memories [1]
night fell, and darkness overtook the pearly white laboratory. the only thing emitting light were both of aiden's eyes...his red eyes, observing his surroundings as he knew that he was now left all alone to himself.
it was now time. aiden wasn't going to stay here for another minute, but who knew what bo had prepared for him tomorrow? aiden was worried since the look in bo's eyes had been...strange, as if, for the first time in his life, something unexpected had happened.
maybe those potions hadn't been supposed to work...and since they worked on aiden, maybe bo realized something else. something that he shouldn't have found out.
thoughts started popping up in aiden's mind over and over again. however, as much as he wanted to have an answer, he couldn't take that risk. he knew his time was limited, and the time he could spend in all those different worlds was restricted because as much as he wanted to train for days without the slightest break, he couldn't.
there were people he cared about that were in danger the longer he lingered in those worlds, learning new things and getting strong enough to rival them all.
'emma...let's hope that my instructions weren't too harsh and dangerous,' aiden thought, as emma was the only person who could make him come back.
his mind lingered on her as a beautiful figure flashed in his mind. he could see her almost perfectly, her pointy ears that would turn red every time he would get closer to her, her toned body which had gone through training ever since she had been a child.
however, while he cared for emma...maybe more than he could admit, he needed to keep some distance from her. not because she was a nuisance, but because...
'because then i will have a weakness,' aiden thought, his mind hazy. 'and assassins can't have weaknesses.'
'assassins can't have weaknesses?' aiden repeated in his mind. 'why am i sounding more and more like my past self...?'
as soon as he had that thought, he felt his body getting weaker, his mind getting slowly becoming heavier. confusion and anger were taking over his mind. he could feel it. he was slowly losing himself...but why?
was it because of those elixirs? maybe they did have an effect on him...
was that the reason his mind felt so heavy?
feeling his mind drifting off, he looked down toward his hands, which were becoming blurry as if disappearing from his sight. he realized that something was wrong, something...someone was playing with his mind.

he felt his hands shaking as he looked in front of him. there was only one person left for him to kill...a child that he had forgotten the name of. at the time, aiden...his previous self had deemed remembering names as useless.
as he could feel his body moving on his own, grabbing his dagger tightly, a distinct voice resounded in the arena.
"are you too emotional to kill each other? did you forget your training?"
aiden didn't even need to look at him as he knew of the devilish smile jack had on his face.
the younger aiden resolved himself as he grabbed the dagger tightly. he was ready, or so he thought at the time. his past self ran forward...his abilities clearly lacking as he tried to kill the boy in front of him. however, it had worked; his dagger pierced the boy's heart, and the young boy felt relieved.
what broke aiden's heart the most was the smile he had on his face as he pulled his dagger as high as possible, celebrating his victory.
he had won. he had killed everyone, and he was deemed the strongest of all those kids. a scenario that would repeat itself again and again as aiden became more emotionless as time passed, slowly killing his inner self as time passed.
that smile was disgusting.
'why am i happy? why am i happy to have killed all of those innocent people?'
aiden's vision darkened again, and when he opened his eyes again, he was all alone in his room, looking at the television, slowly distracting himself.
he could feel it...this version of aiden was a lot different from his current self or his child self. he was a few older around the age of five. this version of aiden was the image of a broken and alone person unable to ask for help from anyone...this version of himself was a machine that had been designed to kill since birth.
aiden could feel it. if he was to go down this path of loneliness in his new chance at life...history would repeat itself because while he would be the strongest, he would be all alone.
alone at the very top.
'i can't let myself become this...this monster,' aiden thought as his will started to affect his past self.
