Chapter 2688 Heading Into The Depths
"Moving out?" Meng Bai raised his brows.
"Yeah, it's no longer safe here," Lin Mu replied.
"Hmm, yeah." Meng Bai understood.
He had been thinking about suggesting the same to his master earlier, but it seemed like he had it in his mind all along.
"The River Bending Axe Sect's people probably informed their sect when they found us. There's a high chance others might be coming here already," Lin Mu stated.
"Would they know that the elder and the disciples have been defeated?" Meng Bai asked.
"Not for now... but they'll find out soon," Lin Mu added.
He had, after all, sent the warning to them, and there was no way the sect wouldn't learn of it. Lin Mu bet that within an hour, the news would have already reached them, if not sooner.
"Where do we go?" Meng Bai asked. "Another city or town?"
"No, we'll go deeper into the forest." Lin Mu knew that the best way to find some privacy would be in the forest itself.
In the cities or other settlements, it would be easier to track them. In the forest, though, it was unlikely to happen.
Of course, Lin Mu also had the final option to call in Monk Hushu and Daoist Chu to speed up their departure. He was sure that if he told them, they would be ready to leave right away. But he still had things to do and wouldn't be bothered just by the threat of a single sect.
Lin Mu simply didn't put them in his eyes at this point, now that he had seen the standard of their strength.
Besides, he didn't want to bother his friends either.
From what he knew, Monk Hushu was at the local Buddhist temple and was carrying out his duties. As a monk, he was supposed to pay his respects to every place with a Buddhist temple, chant the sutras there, and follow the protocols. The monk had talked about it before and the rituals that were involved.
It was quite extensive, and since Monk Hushu had not been here for a while, it was important to do so, especially since there weren't many Buddhist temples in the Jiu World.
Thus, someone like Monk Hushu, who came from a major Buddhist power, had an obligation to follow his duties and visit them.
"Get onto Little Shrubby's back," Lin Mu spoke while Little Shrubby grew to his full size.
"Okay." Meng Bai didn't know what Lin Mu intended to do, but he followed his words nonetheless.
SHUA
He then watched as the entire courtyard disappeared into thin air!
"WHAT THE!?" Meng Bai couldn't believe his eyes.
He looked around, but all he could see was a depression about three meters deep left on the ground. It was as if someone had scooped up the entire courtyard and taken it away.
Which was exactly what had happened.
Lin Mu had simply lifted the entire place with Meld before storing it into his ring. He intended to reuse the courtyard later, after all. While this would damage some of the arrays, he could still fix them later. The ones he had inscribed into the ground weren't going to work after this anyway, so he'd have to remake them.
Once that was done, Lin Mu got onto Little Shrubby's back as well.
"Onwards!" Lin Mu ordered.
ROAR
Little Shrubby took off in the very next second, soaring across the night sky and into the depths of the Ram Orchard Forest.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Unfortunately for Meng Bai, the speed was far too much, and the wind pressure almost threw him off.
"Hold onto the fur for a bit," Lin Mu spoke as he caught onto the boy's robes before he could fall off.
"Take out your harness, Little Shrubby," Lin Mu instructed.
SHUA
In the next second, a harness appeared on Little Shrubby's body that had various straps on it. Lin Mu tied them onto Meng Bai's body, fixing him firmly onto the beast's back.
But the wind pressure was still too much for Meng Bai to bear on his own, and it forced him to close his eyes.
