Chapter 2666 Learning From Mistakes
Seeing Meng Bai's doubt, Lin Mu wished to know more.
"And why is that?" Lin Mu asked.
"It would lead to the reinforcement formation becoming weaker," Meng Bai answered.
"Correct again," Lin Mu confirmed. "But this is simply because it is not complete." He revealed.
"It's not?" Meng Bai tilted his head in confusion.
"Watch." Lin Mu said as he began carving runes into the other walls as well.
In just twenty minutes, he had finished the entire room, and now all the runes were glowing.
Meng Bai watched as the distant peripheral nodes released another stream of Qi before connecting to the other nodes. In just a few seconds, the formations had all joined up. @@@@
"This... It turned into an array! It's a Reinforcing Formation Array," he recognized.
"Correct," Lin Mu replied. "Sometimes, what looks weak might not be weak in combination. The formation might have looked like a mistake, but through mistakes, you can discover new paths." He explained.
Meng Bai pondered over it deeply and realized his own discoveries.
"Now that I think of it... that's how I ended up making the Qi Obscuring Smoke Talisman as well," he stated.
"How did that go?" Lin Mu wanted to know his thought process.
"Originally, I wished to copy the Qi Obscuring Smoke Formation as it was. Since it can be made just by drawing on the ground, I thought it would be simple enough. But no matter how many times I tried it, the formation would never work. My runes were either too skewed, or the spacing wasn't correct," Meng Bai answered.
"What did you draw them with?" Lin Mu wondered.
The sheet had a grainy texture to it but was still smoother than any other paper he had used so far.
"And this time, you'll also use a proper brush." Lin Mu took out one of the thousands of brushes he had stored away.
He hadn't even collected them intentionally; they had just been obtained from storage rings and other places he had looted.
"Whoa..." Meng Bai held the brush and found it to be very handy.
It was made out of a metal rod that was tapered at the top and wrapped in a thin layer of beast skin, making it perfect to grip. Its tip was made from the tail hair of a Brown-Furred Mongoose, which was highly prized for its fine texture.
A brush like this could easily be sold for a few thousand spirit stones, even if it was not a Spirit or Immortal Tool.
While Lin Mu had Spirit Brushes as well, he reckoned it was better for Meng Bai to start from the basics. He could give him a Spirit Brush, but that would be like putting the cart before the horse.
One could only use a Spirit Brush effectively if they first knew how to write properly. Without that, even the Qi-infusing function of the Spirit Brush would be useless.
Besides, he wasn't writing runes for a talisman or formation right now anyway. He was merely learning how to write properly.
"What ink do I use?" Meng Bai wondered if it would be of the same high quality.
"Use this." Lin Mu took out a small barrel.
Thud
The barrel had a volume of about fifty liters, which was a lot of ink.
"Isn't this... too much?" Meng Bai said, looking at the barrel.
"No," Lin Mu denied. "This is just the start," he added.
"Start? What do you mean?" Meng Bai wondered if Lin Mu intended something else.
"It means you'll continue writing until you finish all this ink," Lin Mu stated, making Meng Bai's eyes go wide.
