Chapter 326: The Ogres of Oblivion, Perfect Opportunity to Train!
Chapter 326: The Ogres of Oblivion, Perfect Opportunity to Train!
Dark Silk Threads!
Emilia lifted her scepter high into the air to cast her newly evolved skill, the dark threads erupting from her staff like a spider’s web to surround all the monsters standing before her in the clearing.
The four massive ogres and all the small goblins beside them were immediately trapped by the silk.
Their limbs stuck to their bodies as the threads wrapped around them tightly, but alas, much like the first time she had been in this realm, the strongest ones simply refused to stay down.
ROOOAR!
The ogres roared with fury and broke free from the silk through sheer physical strength even though the skill was incredibly powerful.
Only the goblins continued to struggle against the dark threads, unable to break free because they weren’t strong enough to push through Emilia’s skill on their own.
If the goblins had been alone without the ogres backing them up, Emilia would have definitely had the chance to either attack again or simply run away to safety, but alas, the ogres were just way too strong for her to handle by herself.
"F-Fuck," Emilia panicked as she saw the four creatures approach her with heavy footsteps, their massive fists raised and ready to crush her just like they had done last time she was here.
Star Comet!
She used her strongest ability without any hesitation, her ancient-rank skill that had never failed her before, the very same one she had used against the [Volcano Crab King] as well as in her S-Rank assessment to defeat several opponents at once.
But even then, even with her most powerful attack flying toward them, once again the results were disappointing at best.
BOOM!
The star comet appeared from the sky and rushed toward one of the ogres at incredible speed, hitting it directly in the head and even making the massive creature kneel from the impact, blood erupting from its skull where the comet had struck.
But the attack didn’t kill it, not even close, and in fact, all Emilia’s attack did was enrage the ogre even more as it rushed forward, lifting its fist high above its head to smash her into the ground.
"Oh no..." Emilia’s face drooped with despair as she saw the massive aura filled fist rush toward her face, knowing that this was about to hurt a whole lot.
She felt bad about wasting Leon’s [Resurrection Stone] so quickly, especially since he had only given it to her right before they entered the realm and she hadn’t even had it for an hour yet.
’If only I wasn’t so weak,’ Emilia gritted her teeth in frustration, ’I might be stronger than the normal players at my level, but this still isn’t nearly enough to handle things like this.’
She needed to acquire more skills to make the most use of her high spirit attribute, and also increase her stats as much as she possibly could through grinding and essences.
Emilia closed her eyes tightly, awaiting the impact of the ogre’s fist against her body, bracing herself for the pain that was about to come.
With her high constitution stat, a single hit might not be able to kill her outright, which meant she would have to suffer through the pain for a little while, but so be it because at least she wouldn’t die immediately.
And then one second passed, then two, then five, and surprisingly enough for her, there was no hit at all, just silence where the crushing impact should have been.
Emilia finally opened her eyes slowly, and they widened in complete shock at what she saw, before a wide smile of relief appeared on her face.
Leon and Celeste had arrived just in the nick of time, with the former cutting clean through the arm of the ogre that had attempted to kill her, the severed limb falling to the ground with a heavy thud.
"Are you alright over there?" Celeste rushed toward her friend’s side with concern in her voice.
"Hah..." Emilia beamed with relief, "I almost thought you guys weren’t coming at all, that was way too close for comfort."
Leon stood before the group of ogres and goblins with a cold and focused expression, his sword in one hand and his staff in the other, ready to strike at any moment.
Leon knew he could defeat all these monsters easily without breaking a sweat, they wouldn’t stand a chance against him if he actually tried even a little bit.
But now that he was with Celeste and Emilia, he suddenly thought about something that could be really useful for them going forward.
"Celeste," Leon turned around with a wide grin on his face, "This is actually the perfect opportunity to train and test out your abilities."
"Huh?" Celeste looked at him with confusion, not understanding what he meant.
"Your [Darkness Ember] needs to be figured out, and these monsters are strong enough to be a real threat but we’re in a decently sized clearing where I can see everything, and I’ll be able to help in case anything goes wrong, I also wanna test something out for myself, so this is actually perfect timing."
As always, Leon knew he needed to help not only himself get stronger, but also his companions who relied on him for protection and guidance.
And if Celeste’s new ember was truly as powerful as he believed it to be based on its description, then she might end up becoming one of his most powerful companions in both of his lives combined.
"Hold on for a second though," Leon gazed at the monsters with calculating eyes, "I’ll take care of most of them and leave only one standing for you to practice on."
"A-Alright," Celeste nodded nervously, both scared and excited at the same time about what was coming next.
After all, there was no better way to train and unlock her hidden potential than in a real battle against an opponent much stronger than her, with Leon watching her back the whole time.
Leon gazed at the monsters once more, counting the four ogres and thirteen goblins that had finally freed themselves from Emilia’s ability and were now staring at him with hateful eyes.
The purple aura leaking from their eyes, the sign of the corruption of oblivion that had twisted them into these stronger forms, all flared with bright light as they focused on their new target.
The ogre that had its hand cut off by Leon seemed more ferocious than all the others combined though, because there was a faint crimson trace in its gaze as well, likely from the pain and rage of losing its limb.
Leon didn’t bother moving around to kill them all one by one, even though he could easily do that, and without wasting any more time, he focused on activating one of his newer abilities.
