Chapter 482: Dweller of the Deep Mist

Chapter 482: Dweller of the Deep Mist

Flying out of the sea of mist, the first thing that caught the eyes of Scaly wasn’t the greenish miasma that covered the swamp she found herself flying through, but instead the large number of skeletons and decaying undead found throughout this poisonous swamp she found herself flying through.

[Common... (Dead)]

Not taking long to inspect the dead that covered the ground, finding all of them were indeed the same as the skeletons she had avoided alongside Verdell when she had first descended to the final floor of the dungeon.

Main difference compared to back then being the skeletons weren’t being empowered by the necromancer who had created them and there were also a far larger variety of dead undead creatures, with the zombie warriors being the most abundant. Just from a single glance through the swamp, she easily spotted a few hundred of them covering the ground with a larger number having already sunk into the muddy swamp and disappeared. Never to be found again.

Uneasy as this should have made someone, Scaly felt no such thing and instead only felt a sense of growing excitement after seeing the large number of dead undead. Feeling that she was getting close to reaching the battlefield between the monsters of the dungeon and the necromancer from the Eternal Life Sanctum.

In the process, she had even forgotten the fact that she was currently being chased down by a terrifying monster that had almost certainly exceeded the SS Rank in strength-

Rumble~!

A monster that soon enough made its presence known to her once again as the sea of mist behind her began churning even more violently than before around the edge of the sea of mist as something massive seemed to be about to leap out towards her and Verdell.

"Quick! Get out of here! That monster is thinking about leaving the mist sea to chase after us!" A fact Verdell picked up on far faster than she did, as he hurried for her to speed up and escape before the two of them turned into a uniquely flavored dragon dwarf snack barely enough to fill the space in between the mist monster’s teeth.

Whoosh-!

Something Scaly picked up on as well. Stopping her inspection of the surrounding dead undead creations that had fallen within the poisonous swamp that the two of them now found themselves flying through. Flapping both of her wings with far more strength as she shot forward with her wind magic pushing her forward. Understanding that her slowing down to inspect her surroundings was a luxury that the two of them simply couldn’t afford no matter how curious she was about the fate of the undead creations that now laid dead throughout the swamp.

Still, using what little she had managed to pick up from her surroundings, she decided to change her direction a bit to follow the path that the now dead undead had been moving in before they had perished within the swamp filled with poisonous miasma. Feeling a slight tingling sensation throughout her body as the poisonous miasma began to take effect.

Luckily, her poison and venom resistance had already become so high that this level of poisonous miasma was completely ineffective against her, as after only a few seconds, the tingling sensation from the poison taking effect disappeared entirely. Showing that her body had already completely neutralized the poison within the miasma covered swamp.

"What a powerful poisonous miasma..." Different from Scaly who easily brushed off the deadly poisonous miasma, Verdell threw aside a bottle of poison resistance potion that he had just swallowed hastily after sensing the dreadful poison starting to invade his body. "Luckily I managed to get poison resistance in the past, if not, the poison resistance potion alone might not have been enough for me to get through this!" Silently muttering a few words of relief after sensing the effect of the poisonous miasma slowly disappearing after he downed the poison resistance potion.

Feeling thankful that he had followed the guidance of senior adventurers in the past and decided to go through the painful experience of acquiring poison resistance in the past.

Of course, even with his poison resistance and the poison resistance potion boosting his poison resistance even further, he still felt the poisonous miasma slowly invading his body causing his situation to worsen. Showing just how dreadful this poisonous miasma was.

Still, with the two effects working together, he could at least keep the poisonous miasma at bay relying on healing potions when his condition worsened to the point where the poison invaded far enough into his body.

Problem was that healing potions weren’t exactly easy to acquire and even a senior A Rank Adventurer like himself only had three of them on hand that he still felt reluctant to use even in this kind of situation because of how precious they were.

In the end, though he could have used a healing potion to more easily get through the poisonous miasma. Having already used an equally precious poison resistance potion, he decided to hold it in and tank the poisonous miasma head on. Relying on his recently improved physical strength following his level up to a hundred and class change to endure.

ROOOAR-!

Unaware of the struggle the passenger on her back was going through, Scaly continued forward even as a terrifyingly loud roar echoed out behind her from what could only be the mist monster that had been chasing the two of them through the sea of mist not long ago.

Swish~

And following this loud roar, Scaly turned around just enough to catch a glimpse of this terrifying monster that had been chasing the two of them-

T-That is- Nope!

Only to turn right back around to continue escaping with even more strength than she had a second ago. Pushing herself past her own limits to increase her own speed ever so slightly in the process.

All because that quick look back at what had been chasing the two of them finally gave her the chance to see the monster that had been chasing the two of them- or more accurately, she saw the towering head of the mist monster poking up through the sea of mist staring directly towards the two of them... And together with that, she also managed to successfully inspect this powerful monster that had been lurking beneath the surface of the sea of mist so far.

[Dweller of the Deep Mist, lvl 218]

[Description: A monster that can be found lurking within the depths of the legendary mist seas found throughout the world or within the depths of dungeons. The dweller of the deep mist in the shape of a large serpent mixed with an eel is known to be one of the most skilled monsters when it comes to utilizing mist magic and at the same time also has a certain degree of proficiency in lightning magic.

Recommended to avoid at all costs, if possible. A monster that exceeds the SS Rank and is already considered on the path to divinity. Only recommended for those above the SS Rank themselves to challenge and only inside dungeons, as those of this level found outside dungeons have intelligence comparable to or beyond normal intelligent sentient races like humans, dwarves, elves and other similarly intelligent races.]

The description that she barely managed to glance through along with the terrifyingly high level of this ludicrously massive serpent whose maw alone was more than large enough to swallow her and Verdell without any difficulty, was more than enough for her to turn around and escape with all her strength.

Strong as she was, this kind of monster wasn’t something she could fight with her current strength and while the strength of this serpent wasn’t at the same level as that demigod of the dreamscape, she had once into, it had a similar presence as that terrifying dreamscape monster. Meaning that it should already be close to reaching the same level as that demigod of the dreamscape had reached.

The thought of this alone was terrifying to the point that any thought of killing this serpent in the future had been thoroughly swept to the back of her mind for the foreseeable future. After all, she had a feeling to take on this kind of powerful monster, a single evolution might not be enough and she might need to evolve two times before she had the strength to stand up to this kind of terrifying monster on her own, something she had no idea how long it would take. Especially with how much harder it had become for her to level up following her previous evolution.

Something she personally hoped would come to an end when she got to the battlefield between the necromancer from the Eternal Life Sanctum and the dungeon core...
