Chapter 2368 - 1055: Envoy to the Council of Death Chiefs (Part 3)
The Stone Giant said to Domingo: "Come with me."The Undead Stone Giant then said to Katherine: "Please follow me, Lady."
They had already received advance notice that Katherine and Domingo were coming and were instructed to welcome them.
"Lady!" Domingo looked down at Katherine, his expression full of pleading.
Katherine reassured him once more: "Don’t worry, I will remember our promise. You go first!"
Despite Domingo’s reluctance, he had no choice but to comply, as this was the stronghold of the Council of Death Chiefs in Kainheim, where they had absolute control.
After exiting the Underground Teleportation Stone Array, the two Stone Giants turned left, while the Undead Stone Giant led Katherine to the right.
Katherine felt as if she had entered the Underground Giant Kingdom, where everything was colossal-sized, with passages starting at a height of ten meters and caves spanning tens of thousands of square meters.
Just like the Underground Teleportation Stone Array, these passages were occasionally adorned with various rune carvings.
They were not merely decorative but served reinforcement purposes, as the pressure exerted by these colossal caves located unknown meters underground far exceeded the normal, requiring the intervention of magic.
To Katherine’s surprise, the rune magic used to reinforce the space didn’t use the common Earth Element, but instead incorporated a large amount of Negative Energy.
The result was as expected.
The concentration of Negative Energy here reached astonishing levels, though incomparable to the Negative Energy Plane, yet sufficient to rival ordinary Shadow Realms, becoming a life-threatening environment, a paradise for Undead Creatures.
The Strategy Divine Power within Katherine quickly circulated, rejecting the omnipresent corrosive Negative Energy.
The path remained silent.
Although the Undead Stone Giant was a Sage Undead, like other Undead, he lacked most emotions and had little desire for communication.
Katherine also refrained from excessive dialogue with an Undead guide, unlikely to extract useful information or achieve any agreements.
They proceeded without obstruction, as if alone.
However, Katherine was aware that her smooth passage was due to being guided by the Undead Stone Giant. If she were an intruder, she would likely face endless Undead Soldiers.
Determining accurate distance and direction in the dim underground caverns was challenging.
Katherine wasn’t sure how long the Undead Stone Giant had guided her, only knowing she had turned eight times before a vast underground council chamber appeared before her.
This underground council chamber resembled a colosseum, in a circular shape, with an empty area below, surrounded by tiered seating filled with colossal seats.
These seats were arranged to accommodate at least nine Giants per tier, forming three fully occupied tiers.
As Katherine entered, all the shadowy gazes focused synchronously upon her, creating an illusion akin to a piercing sensation.
They were all Undead Stone Giants, with power at least at Quasi-Legendary level.
They were the Council of Death Chiefs.
Former rulers of Colossus City, destroyers of the Shield Dwarves, secret manipulators of the Giant Plains for thousands of years.
"State your purpose, the Chosen of Lady Strategy."
An Undead Stone Giant Chieftain slowly spoke, his voice as coldly eerie as the chamber itself.
"I am not here on behalf of Lady Strategy, but as an envoy of the Conqueror, to discuss the ownership of numerous souls on the Giant Plains." Katherine emphasized her position.
Clarifying that the main orchestrator is not Lady Strategy, but the Conqueror.
This was Gaven’s new nickname, popular among residents along the Conqueror Path.
It carries dual significance.
It holds high praise for Gaven and his team for unquestionably conquering wilderness with roads, transforming the area into a new domain for intelligent life.
But it also carries derogatory meaning, in the mouths of his enemies, depicting him as an undisputed tyrant, subjugating all under his feet, a brutal butcher and executioner.
The nickname’s connotations align closely with the Road Clergy, thus consciously retained as a revered title.
Compared to cumbersome titles, such colloquial aliases are easier for ordinary people to remember.
Just like when someone mentions Mount Dakor, they first think of the Wind Rider or Hand of Aid, rather than the formal title of God of Travel and Exploration.
"Do you intend to renege?" The voice of the Undead Stone Giant Chieftain remained as ice-cold, indistinguishable whether it carried anger.
"It’s not reneging, but uncertainty regarding your ability to retain all those souls." Katherine chose the Giant Plains as the main battlefield for a reason.
Gaven’s war against the King of the Jackalweres and Ghoul King in the Bottomless Abyss is of divine warfare nature.
But the issue is, he is not a True God.
Souls of Jackalweres killed by ordinary people on the Material Plane won’t directly belong to him but instead head to Yenogu’s Realm.
Yet with the assistance of the Council of Death Chiefs, who are similarly eyeing the Undead Domain, the same objectives can be achieved.
As long as those Jackalwere souls don’t fall into the hands of the King of the Jackalweres, it’s a victory for Gaven.
Furthermore, Gaven now holds far more bargaining chips.
"You question our ability." Uncertain if it was an illusion, the voice of the Undead Stone Giant Chieftain seemed even colder.
"I didn’t come to question you but to seek a definitive answer. If you lack the capacity to accomplish it, we can offer you a bit more leverage, but this matter requires my direct discussion with the Great Chief Dukong."
The Council of Death Chiefs was not Katherine’s goal; their true master, the Great Chieftain of the Undead Stone Giants, was.
"The Great Chief hasn’t concerned himself with worldly matters for years; we control everything here. You can speak directly to us if there’s anything..."
