Chapter 89: Split Part III
Chapter 89: Split Part III
“ARRRRGH!!!”
A sharp scream came from the middle of the rainforest in the area of Tristan city. A bright red beam was flashing into the sky for a second before it was slowly fading away.
There appeared with 5 unconscious men, lying around in a beat-down condition. Their blood was splattered everywhere, and some parts of their skin were scorched like it was burned with fire.
“What’s this? I thought this party would have some more good stuff with them. What a shame.” A voice said disappointedly before the small figure bent down to snatch a bracelet from the wrist of a player, who was lying down as she passed out.
“It’s such a waste. Except for the target, there’s nothing I can get as a bonus.” He spun the item in his hand for a moment, before tossing it in his black, fire print inventory window. Then he waved his hand over the unconscious bodies, and there was a light-colored flame covering them for a while before the bodies of the players on the ground started fading away slowly.
The man held his index finger up and blew on the tip, making the blowing sound like he was mocking an old cowboy movie. His long oval face was flashing a satisfied smile for a second before he pushed his deep red hair back.
He was not very tall and dressed in simple clothes which was a cloak with a hood, hanging on his back. And it matched perfectly with a scythe, grim reaper’s weapon.
“What? You’re already done here, Red?” He paused, hearing someone call his name. He turned to smile at a tall man with a buzzcut haircut who was wiping blood off his hand with a handkerchief emotionlessly and walking in his direction.
“How was your side, Green?” That red-haired guy asked.
“It was okay.” The tall man answered. “There were a lot of them, but I could handle them by myself. Only one thing that is so annoying.”
“What’s that?”
“It’s this new system. Why’d it have to be this real?” Green complained as he threw the handkerchief away disgustedly. “Look at this. The blood was splattered all over me. Good thing that it doesn’t stain, or I’ll beat the crap out of them!”
The long complaint got Red burst out with a laugh. He walked up to pat on his friend’s shoulder intimately.
“Why’d you complain? It’s a job. There’s an order and we do it, then we get paid. That’s all.” He finished speaking and had to hold in his laugh again.
“Okay. I’ll just try getting over it then.”
“And what about your side, Green? Did you get any bonus?” Red changed the topic, and the other just shrugged as a reply, making the smaller one frown and kick some rocks nearby with displeasure.
“Damn it. Players are being so careful lately. Seems like they carry only necessities and keep expensive stuff at the depository in towns. So bored!”
“I guess so.” Green sighed with boredom. “Since there’s news about us all over the web board like that, no wonder why players get more careful.”
“Tch... I think that it’ll be harder for us to hunt for sure.” The one named Red cursed quietly as he was joining his hands on the back of his head.
“Have you heard anything from Yellow and Blue yet?”
“No.” Green shook his head.
“What the hell is this day!? Why is everything so frustrating?!” He put his anger on the rocks again, before bringing out his information window.
“Even our boss told us to split like this, we still can’t find the guy named Vincent. Where on earth is he hiding?!” The question made the other one let out a heavy sigh.
“Not just Vincent, but we can’t find any information about the girl named Maysa either.”
“Normally, we can just put the name in a search engine, and it just shows the location and the details of the player, doesn’t it?!” Red was still irritated. “And what’s this? The system’s broken, or what? Why can’t we find anything about these two?!”
“The system is not broken, Red.” Green corrected. “I think the GMs especially installed some kind of protection program for these two players to block our location searching program for sure.”
“Is it possible to do that?” Red raised his eyebrows at the presumption.
“Yes, it is. That GM Thada is quite fast to know things.” It seemed like the answer was displeasing, the red-haired man turned his face away. He snorted in his throat, then closed his screen with a sound, WHOOSH!
“So, that’s why we need to find them by ourselves. (Sigh!) doing this is such a waste of time.”
“Come on, Red. Boss already told us, didn’t he? If we can steal those three items, we’ll make an immense amount of money. Yesterday, you already saw that there were hundreds of purchasing orders. And until now the bid hasn’t stopped, yet. I think it’s about 2million each now.”
“What? Just 2 million?!” Red shouted. “We could sell a Delton crystal for 5 million, and why these three items are worth less?”
“Just chill. Like I said, the place bidding is not over, yet.” Green said. “Boss estimated that we could make more than 15 million from them.”
Hearing that, the small guy whistled immediately. An annoying smile appeared on his cunning face again.
“That’s kind of relief to know that.”
“Alright, now we should hurry back to our base first.” The tall man suggested. “I already told the other two to get back as well. Then after we do some brainstorming, we might figure out a way to track down that Vincent guy.”
“’Kay. That sounds like a good plan.”
RUSTLE!
At the moment both of them were about to leave, a sound of a breaking branch came from behind, drawing their eyes to the tree’s colonnade immediately.
“Who’s there?!” Green shouted. His sharp eyes narrowed down with alertness, not very long before there appeared a tall man walking out between the tall trees.
“Well, Did I scare you? My apologies.” A delighted voice greeted friendlily. Red and Green tightened their weapons in their hands, while they were considering the man in front of them. He seemed to be very tall, compared to average people. His blond messy hair was tied up in a loose ponytail. He moved his imposing violet eyes to look directly in theirs before he gave them a polite smile.
“Who are you?” Green tried to probe, unlike the other who was sprinting to attack the newcomer quickly.
“Whoever you are, but we can’t let you live after you’ve seen us!” The impulsive one shouted loudly while two knives were called into his hands.
The sharp eyes of the other just narrowed down a little as his smile went wider.
“Well, personally, I don’t like the type that attacks first, talks later, very much.”
BOOM!!!!
Red could not even get to the blond-haired man when a huge thunderbolt struck down right on his back, making him scream out loudly. His almond-shaped eyes widened before his small figure collapsed on the ground unconsciously like a puppet with broken strings in a few seconds.
“Red!”
“Don’t move.”
Green, who was about to run out to help his friend, had to stay still at his spot when there was a big sword against his throat. The big guy trembled as he saw the blond guy was standing at the same place, but this was another one who could appear without him even realizing it.
“If you’re about to be tricky, I can’t guarantee your life.” The cold voice spoke, making him clench his jaws.
The man who was placing the blade on his throat was about the same height as him. He had light brown hair and red eyes like a monster’s, restraining Green to be still in place that he could not even dare to breathe!
“Calm down, Mister Allen. Or we won’t be able to talk the business with him.”
