Chapter 353: Unlucky Hakodate Nishi! The Score is Tied Again!
Chapter 353: Unlucky Hakodate Nishi! The Score is Tied Again!
"Fuck! What is going on here?!"
"No fucking way..."
Silence descended on the pitch as everyone stared at the ball rolling inside the goal with their jaws dropped. Their disbelief and confusion were palpable, as if asking anyone to give a logical explanation. They clearly saw Higo tipping the ball earlier, so how could it go back to the goal?!
However, all the Hannan University High players didn’t need any explanation here. They didn’t even care who scored the goal or how it went in. One thing they wanted to make sure of, though, was whether this was legal or not.
FWEEE!
The moment the referee blew the whistle, confirming the goal for Hannan University High, hell broke loose instantly.
"FUCK YEAH!"
"Come on, Jui! Come on!"
"Hahaha! I know I can get this!"
Jui Hata was laughing boisterously while spreading his arms wide in celebration, while all of his teammates were jumping on his back to join the fun. Meanwhile, on Hakodate Nishi’s side, everything was still blurry here. Higo was still looking at the ball behind him in a baffled expression, not knowing how in the hell it went into his goal.
The next thing he knew, though, as he turned around, the boy could see Denki having a pale face, covering it with both hands to hide his shame. That was when things clicked inside his head as Higo asked, "The ball got into you?!"
Well, Denki didn’t really answer the question here. However, the more he avoided everyone’s gaze, the more it confirmed Higo’s guess. The right back was so dejected, looking like he had just lost his soul to the Shinigami himself.
"Man, we are so unlucky..." Jun groaned in regret.
They had done so well defending everything perfectly, and their reaction in the last free-kick was also a textbook one. Denki managed to get to the ball quicker than anyone else, ready to clear it away from the danger area. Who would’ve thought that for the most crucial touch, the boy would fumble on the spot, scoring an own goal for the opponent’s team.
Higo also sighed helplessly here. He had done everything he could, but the boy was so focused on the attack itself that he didn’t use his clairvoyance ability to foresee his teammate’s movement. Who would’ve thought that this would cost him his clean sheet record?
"Yeah, they are so unlucky here..."
"Ryusuke Higo has already done his best, but that own goal is not something he could stop."
"Ha! If he could do that, he would be a God among the goalkeepers!"
"Still, now that the score was tied again, that means the game will be more competitive, right?!"
As the whispers grew louder, people on the stand also got more excited about how the game would unfold after this. While they didn’t hate Hakodate Nishi’s playing style, they knew that this team always specialized in one thing: scoring a goal first, then defending with all of their might. Now that their lead was invalid, it was interesting to see how they would approach the rest of the game.
"Tch! They are expecting a circus from us." Makino clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Come on, Denki! Get up! You can cry later if we lose! Right now, everything is still possible, show more positive attitude!"
"Yeah, Brother! This is not like you!" Denji also stepped up, helping his twin get up from the ground. "Who cares about the own goal?! Higo-senpai doesn’t even blame you, so why are you getting so depressed like this?! Just get up and pay it back with your performance!"
Everyone tried their best to lift up the boy’s mood. Unfortunately, an own goal in this situation was enough to mess his mind. The guilt he felt right now was enough to eat him alive, and if he couldn’t get back to his own rhythm, he would only become a big weakness for Hakodate Nishi’s defense.
"Come on! Get over it!" Makino clapped as he led the team back to the original position. "Takaaki, let’s initiate the blitzkrieg again! Don’t aim at the impossible target, and don’t miss it, okay?!"
"Sure, Senpai!" Takaaki nodded, pushing off his glasses slightly.
Soon enough, all the players were back in their original positions again. Both Hiroshi and Kenji faced the ball, glancing slightly toward the opponent’s side.
"Damn, it looks like they are going to devour us alive." Kenji couldn’t help but mutter. "One goal is enough to make them like this?"
All the Hannan University High had the red bloodshot eyes, staring at Hakodate Nishi as if they were eyeing their juicy prey here. This was enough to send shivers down some of the boys’ spines, knowing that the next attack from their side would be crazier.
"Let’s just try to execute this attack perfectly first," Hiroshi mumbled a reply. "Also, Kenji, don’t get closer to that Taiga Nagai. You’ve been beaten by him so many times today, right? No need to be stubborn here..."
Kenji felt the corner of his lips twitching a little here. However, he couldn’t deny Hiroshi’s words. Whenever the boy wanted to create something, Taiga Nagai seemed to be able to get close to him, enough to disturb his rhythm. He also lost in a physical contest several times, so challenging him again would definitely be less ideal right now.
FWEEE!
The moment the referee blew the whistle, Kenji could still hear his senpai mumble, "Don’t mess this up, Kenji." Before kicking the ball back to Takaaki and rushed forward. Kenji was so speechless here, following toward the opposite flank while also murmuring, ’Who the hell does he think he is?’
Still, the boy followed the order, going slightly wider than usual to face the left back. Now, Taiga Nagai couldn’t get into him that easily, and he could also overwhelm that side with Denji and probably Usami so easily.
’Now... Let’s see how you would send the ball, Takaaki-senpai!’
Thud!
Instead of going for a big cross, Takaaki saw a feasible route through the ground. The boy didn’t even hesitate here, whacking the ball low, piercing the snow, crossing through the center line without anyone being close enough to stop it. The target was still the same, Kenji, but this time, the boy didn’t try to stick with the ball for too long.
’Well, good run, Denji, but you better run more here!’
Thud!
