Revelation of the Way of Heaven

Chapter 230 Temptation

Chapter 230 Temptation

The boundless Gobi Desert stretched to the horizon, and under the blazing sun, the air seemed to distort. An off-road vehicle drove out of the distorted air.

The man wore a cowboy hat, a white shirt, a leather jacket, and blue jeans. He also had a brown dust mask around his neck. Both his upper and lower body were covered in white dust, making him look somewhat travel-worn.

When his SUV arrived in town, it was already one o'clock in the afternoon, but he hadn't had lunch yet.

Because it was midday, the sun was blazing down on the earth, and there were hardly any people on the street. Only unknown insects were chirping in the trees, making the place seem rather lonely.

The man got out of the car, gazed at the distant mountain range for a while, then turned and walked into a tavern.

In contrast to the quiet of the street, the tavern was bustling with activity. Music, cheers, shouts, and drinking games filled the air, and the aroma of roasted meat permeated the entire hall, making him even hungrier after missing his meal.

"Give me a beer and a plate of lamb skewers first," the man said to the bartender at the counter, licking his chapped lips as he glanced around the entire pub.

The tavern is decorated in the style of a traditional Western Region inn, with various specialty products from the Western Regions hanging on the walls. In the middle of the hall is a large stage where four women are currently performing belly dancing. Tables are placed around the stage, and diners enjoy their food while watching the exquisite dance.

The man looked up and noticed that there was another floor above the tavern, which looked much quieter than the one downstairs, so he went upstairs.

The upstairs area is also built around the stage. Unlike the downstairs area, the upstairs tables are low dining tables with carpets on the floor, and diners sit cross-legged on cushions to eat.

A short while later, a woman with a voluptuous figure came to his table with beer and lamb skewers. She wore a transparent purple patterned headscarf, a purple strapless top that completely exposed her flat, smooth abdomen, and a long, double-slit skirt. As she walked over, her two slender legs appeared and disappeared with the swaying of her waist.

As she bent down to put down the beer and lamb skewers, her cleavage was fully exposed to his eyes, and a faint fragrance emanated from her body, making his heart flutter.

"You must be a distinguished guest who has come from afar." After putting down the food, the woman did not leave immediately. Instead, she sat down opposite him, leaning to one side, resting her chin on her hand, her long, white legs half-bent and stretched out across him, her eyes staring straight at him.

"Aren't all your customers from afar?" The man took a big gulp of beer before picking up a lamb skewer and putting it in his mouth, without even glancing at the other person.

"But none of them have a charm like you." The woman touched her lips and smiled alluringly.

The man's gaze was cold and indifferent. Although he was middle-aged, he still had striking eyebrows and sharp eyes. His angular face, though covered in dust, gave him a mature and steady air, which was indeed captivating to many women.

"Are you the proprietress here?" the man asked indifferently.

"You have excellent taste, esteemed guest. How did you come to that conclusion?" The proprietress stared intently at the man's face, a hint of spring in her eyes.

The man glanced at her, his gaze finally settling on her long, shapely legs, and said calmly, "Because you are dangerous enough."

"What kind of reason is that?" the woman said, somewhat displeased. She gently rubbed her foot against the man's thigh and said coquettishly, "I don't understand. How am I in danger? You need to explain yourself clearly."

The other person didn't respond and just continued drinking.

Seeing that the man remained unmoved, the woman simply turned around and sat down beside him, leaning against him softly, and said, "Honored guest, have you heard our local legend? Long ago, one day, a beautiful girl suddenly appeared. All the young men here liked her, but she always pointed to her mouth and shook her head. The young men all left disappointed, but only one boy dared to kiss her."

She took his arm and looked up at him, continuing, "Then the beautiful girl immediately agreed to marry him. It turned out that the girl had been bewitched and couldn't speak. Only those who were sincere and brave could break the spell by kissing her, and the boy was the one who broke the spell for her."

"Is there another version of this story?" the man said with a half-smile. "The beautiful girl was actually a sealed fairy, and the boy was the one who helped her break the seal. In return, the girl ate the boy."

"Hmph, how annoying." She flicked the other person's face with her drooping headscarf, and said coquettishly, "Are you comparing me to a fairy?"

"Aren't you one?" he asked casually.

The woman was now completely on top of the man, cupping his face in one hand and whispering in his ear, "Then we'll see if you like it."

The man took the woman's hand and said slowly, "How could I not like you? Without you, how could I find the person I'm looking for?"

As he finished speaking, a clear light emanated from his palm, and the arm he had been holding trembled as it transformed into a furry claw. The woman screamed in pain, her once sexy and alluring face turning into a fox-like one, and at the same time, another claw slammed towards his face.

He snorted coldly, swung his arm, and pulled the other person into the air. With his other hand, clear light condensed in his palm and he slammed it into the other person's abdomen.

The woman, or more precisely, the fox, let out a mournful cry, followed by a flash of red light that made it disappear before his eyes. At the same time, countless fox shadows pounced on him from all directions.

The man remained seated, his hands forming a hand seal. A rotating green light screen appeared around him. With a cold shout, several phantoms emerged from the light screen and collided with the fox shadows. All the fox shadows turned into a red light and disappeared.

"Oh dear, I've been so kind to you, and you still bully me." The fox transformed back into human form, sitting on a beam above the stage, with nine long white tails trailing behind her.

The man downed his beer in one gulp, stood up, and looked coldly at the other man. "The game is over. You should surrender now."

"Sigh, what a pity, such a charming face." She put the headscarf in her mouth and gently bit it. "Why is she so cold?"

She looked heartbroken and said, "But I just love it this way, so even if I break your legs, I'll take you away." With that, all nine of her tails stood up and wagged incessantly, and she transformed back into a fox, pouncing on the man.
