Chapter 1 The Boy Under the Ruins
Chapter 1 The Boy Under the Ruins
The gale swept through the exposed steel frame, emitting a mournful sound like that of the dead.
The boy peered through the gaps in the rubble at the fallen crow that was gnawing on the carcass.
This is a fierce elf that is unwilling to get close to humans and cannot form a contract.
People like to call them ferocious beasts.
After a full twenty minutes, having devoured all the rotting flesh from the skeleton, the crow finally flew away, satisfied.
After confirming that there was no danger around, Fang Bo pushed aside the wooden planks that were blocking his way and crawled out.
"Sigh, another place to go." The boy couldn't help but sigh.
Who would have thought that the ravens would bring their prey here?
This forced him to risk moving his hiding place.
Two months ago, this place was called Dongjiao City.
A coastal tourist city marked on the map as "rich in natural resources".
An unprovoked rampage of ferocious beasts turned this place into a post-war ruin.
As Fang Bo passed the corpse, he saw a familiar color.
The other person seemed to be a student from his school.
I have no interest in caring about other people's lives or deaths; the most important thing right now is to get out of here as soon as possible.
Find enough supplies and wait for the Elf Alliance to come to your rescue.
He accidentally stepped on a piece of glass, and the crisp sound made him stop instantly.
After carefully looking around and finding nothing amiss, they continued walking forward.
Arriving at a collapsed supermarket, Fang Bo squeezed through the raised roller shutter door.
The shelves inside were all overturned, and various packaging bags were scattered on the ground.
"There will always be something left behind." Fang Bo bent over and rummaged through the collapsed shelves.
The flashlight beam swept across every corner.
I successfully found a half-empty bottle of mineral water in the cabinet behind the cashier.
The bottle was covered in dust, but the cap was sealed perfectly.
After unscrewing the cap and smelling it, Fang Bo found no strange odor, tightened the cap, and put it into his backpack.
He continued walking in, unaware of the fleeting shadow.
The warehouse was a mess, with cardboard boxes overturned all over the floor and several cans scattered under a dusty cabinet.
As he bent down to pick it up, the dark figure silently appeared behind him.
The sharp blade was raised high and slashed down mercilessly.
With a single blow, the obstructing cabinet was cleaved in two.
This allowed Fang Bo to successfully obtain the luncheon meat cans.
"You woke up early today." Fang Bo stood up and looked at the figure hidden in the darkness.
This is a creature that is entirely emerald green.
The shell was somewhat rough and covered with fine scratches.
Its forelimbs are like two sickles; the ability to slice through a cabinet in one strike is proof of its sharpness.
The two pairs of wings on its back were covered with cracks, and it looked as if it had suffered serious injuries.
Fang Bo stared at it, and after a moment a pale blue light screen appeared before his eyes.
This is something only he can see.
[Pokémon: Leafblade Scyther]
Status: Injured
[Rank: 1 (Iron Grade)]
[Attribute: Insect, Flying]
[Personality: Calm]
Individual Value: ★
[Talent: Night Vision]
[Evaluation: A mediocre Leafblade Scyther, its back injury has rendered it unable to fly.]
"Still no upgrade." Fang Bo sighed.
He took out luncheon meat from his bag and sat on the ground with Leaf Blade Mantis to eat it.
Fang Bo happened to encounter a beast tide when he traveled through time.
His parents perished, and he was forced to hide in the ruins, barely surviving.
His naturally cautious nature allowed him to avoid danger on many occasions.
By chance, he saved a leaf-blade mantis that was about to starve to death.
And so they became friends.
This is a wondrous world where elf culture flourishes.
In terms of human aspects, it is somewhat similar to Earth, but the ecosystem is vastly different.
This is mainly reflected in one point.
That is the peculiar element in the atmosphere called "magic".
Magic caused plants and animals to evolve rapidly.
Elves have existed since ancient times, ruling over a region of the world, while humans live in the cracks between them.
This is simply because humans have a very poor capacity to utilize magic.
Its effect is less than one-tenth of that of the Elf.
The greater the strength, the more obvious the gap became, leading to humanity being reduced to the status of livestock.
The human condition did not improve until the "trainer" system was introduced.
Create special spaces through magic.
Used to capture spirits and force them to sign contracts.
Humanity only truly gained a foothold by enslaving the elves.
Ten thousand years later, humans became the masters of the world, and Pokémon trainers became the noblest profession.
Every child is proud to become a trainer.
Fang Bo once aspired to become a Pokémon breeder.
To cultivate excellent Pokémon in your own way.
As a result, they were all destroyed by the beast tide.
In his previous life, "Fang Bo" was a hardcore gamer.
I've played all sorts of pet-themed games.
Feeling bored, he started coding by hand and developed a special cheat tool on his own.
I'm planning to add some fun to my otherwise boring gaming journey.
Unexpectedly, he traveled to this place.
The soul merged with the boy who died in the ruins.
The story begins with the death of both parents and the rampage of ferocious beasts hunting humans throughout the city.
Fang Bo was so excited that he didn't sleep for two days and two nights.
Say goodbye to a dull and boring life.
In an unexpected encounter, he met this Leafblade Mantis and discovered that the cheat device he had developed had also traveled through time.
It became a special system that only Fang Bo could see.
Displaying sprite information is just a basic function.
More require unlocking the "Hero Encyclopedia".
"I may have to leave," Fang Bo suddenly said, knowing that Ye Rentang could understand him.
This one-meter-tall mantis is very clever, but it lacks aptitude; nutritional deficiencies prevent it from ever leveling up.
After thousands of years of development, the trainer system has long been mature.
The specially created space can help the elves grow.
He had tried to sign a contract with Leafblade Mantis more than once.
However, its wariness was too strong, and it was never able to achieve its goal.
There's no way around it; that's just how wild elves are—hostility towards humans is etched into their genes.
Only those spirits that have undergone systematic training can have their hostility diminished.
Before leaving, Fang Bo wanted to give it one more try.
If he cannot establish a contract, he must try other targets.
Without the protection of the elves, he could not traverse the entire city.
There were too many dangers that could have killed him.
Perhaps understanding what the humans meant, Leaf Blade Mantis couldn't help but recall the two months they had spent together.
Ultimately, emotion triumphed over reason, and it gradually moved closer to the other party.
They gently touched each other's delicate foreheads.
"Finally, it's done." Fang Bo took a deep breath.
The magic power within him surged from his chest, flowing along his meridians to his right arm, and a pale blue light gradually enveloped the Leaf Blade Mantis.
It seeped into that thin body little by little.
The contract is established!
A six-pointed star appeared beneath the Leafblade Mantis's feet, and it quickly disappeared from its spot.
They entered the Pokémon space created by the trainer.
The space wasn't large, just enough for the little mantis to rest alone.
Fang Bo silently examined his cheat device.
