Chapter 661: Lorath Of the Silver Fang Vs Thalus During Lunch

The airship of the Boar Zodiac family cut through the ash-laden skies like a blade, its surface gleaming in the pale light of the sun.

It was a masterpiece of engineering, adorned with the intricate sigil of the Boar Zodiac—a charging boar with tusks of gold—and lined with spiked battlements that gave it an aura of menace. As it neared the borderlands between the Holy Church and the Zodiac families, the harsh winds carried the stench of death from the battlefield below.

Beneath the airship, the land was a wasteland. Broken weapons, shattered banners, and corpses of soldiers from both sides littered the ground.

Smoke rose from scattered fires, mingling with the low cries of wounded men who hadn’t yet succumbed to their injuries. This was no place for pleasantries, yet preparations were underway for an audacious display of civility—a lunch table being set in the heart of this carnage.@@@@

Servants and soldiers of the Zodiac family hurriedly moved across the battlefield, clearing the chosen area of the dead. Their faces were grim as they dragged corpses away, leaving behind smears of blood on the scorched earth. Afterall an important lunch between two controlling powers of the world was about to take place, and its chosen venue was right in the center of the armies.

Flowers—delicately cultivated despite the horrors of war—were placed in decorative arrangements, forming an unnatural contrast against the desolate backdrop.

Fine table linens, gleaming silverware, and goblets of crystal were laid out with precision, creating a surreal oasis of elegance amidst the chaos.

On either side of the table, very far off apart, two armies faced each other like coiled predators. The soldiers of the Zodiac family stood tall and fierce, their banners of the Boar symbol flapping in the wind. Their armor was dark and menacing, marked with the boar’s sigil, and their eyes burned with readiness for battle.

Behind her stood Thalus, her ever-loyal but arrogant follower, similarly one of the ten fingers of solitude. For events such as these that needed more refinement and grace, the uncrowned clown was not the chosen pick.

Thalus meticulously adjusting his thin glasses on the bridge of his nose. His robes were simple compared to hers, but his demeanor was sharp and focused. His eyes darted between the two armies, calculating and analyzing every detail.

The Seer walked with deliberate poise to the table, her steps silent yet commanding, and took her seat opposite Barak. The battlefield seemed to hold its breath as their eyes met. Behind them, their attendants and guards stood rigid, the weight of centuries-old rivalries and fresh bloodshed hanging over the scene.

Barak leaned back slightly, stroking his beard, his smile thin but confident. The Seer’s veil fluttered in the breeze, and though her face was obscured, her presence exuded an authority that matched his.

Between them, the pristine table stood as an island of civility in a sea of death. But the tension in the air, thick and suffocating, betrayed the fragile nature of this moment.

Barak motioned for her to seat as he stood up, a real gentleman, even giving a slight bow as he did. She nodded gracefully at him, and then took the seat.

The table was made clean, and soon enough, servants from the Boar family rushed over with incredible dishes. most of whom were sea dishes.

However, Thalus suddenly spoke up, "forgive us... But the Seer would prefer to eat Pork!"
