Chapter 607: The End Of Mulligan 3

"...See, Nora, I told you that was his plan... My uncle is coward!"

Eunid walked forward, his cane tapping softly on the stone floor as Nora followed closely behind him, her expression unreadable, yet her presence unmistakably gentle. She stayed by his side, offering silent support, but never once letting her gaze waver.

Alfred’s frown deepened, his eyes darting between Eunid and Nora. This was not supposed to happen. Eunid wasn’t meant to arrive until long after he had left the temple, and yet here they were, ruining everything.

Something was off. His gaze settled on the pair, suspicion gnawing at him.

"How... how did you find out?" Alfred demanded, his voice filled with disbelief and growing panic.@@@@

Eunid simply chuckled in response. With a calm wave of his hand, the nameless dwarf who had always been by Alfred’s side stepped forward.

Alfred’s shock was instant, his eyes wide with rage and betrayal. "You trash! How dare you betray me?" he snarled, his grip tightening on the blade in his hand.

But the dwarf merely chuckled softly. "It couldn’t be helped, Alfred. Young master Eunid proposed a much better deal for serving him. And, unlike you, he never raised a hand against me."

Alfred’s mouth opened in furious protest, but before he could say more, Eunid turned towards the guards stationed outside and called out, "Take him away."

The guards, who had been waiting for orders, immediately rushed into the temple, their footsteps echoing loudly in the sacred space. Alfred struggled as they grabbed him, trying to break free, but he was weakened from his earlier clash with Mulligan. As the guards dragged him toward the exit, Alfred’s furious eyes locked with Eunid’s, filled with hatred.

Mulligan’s heart shattered at those words. He tried to speak, to explain. His lips trembled, and he fought to force the words out.

’I did it because I loved you. I knew the world was cruel, and I wanted you strong enough to face it. To become the patriarch you were meant to be...’

But the words wouldn’t come. His body, drained of strength, refused to cooperate. He could only watch as the one he had sacrificed everything for now stood above him, indifferent to his suffering.

But Eunid didn’t care. He no longer saw a father; he only saw a weak man bound by the very chains that once bound him. Slowly, Eunid stood to his feet, his face hard as stone. He turned to Old Fang, his voice steady, commanding. "The patriarch of the Diligence family is no more. I now take his place."

Without hesitation, Eunid’s hand moved with brutal precision, arcing down toward Mulligan’s neck. In a swift motion, it was over. Mulligan’s head rolled to the floor with a dull thud, his lifeless eyes staring up in eternal silence.

Old Fang’s heart nearly stopped as he witnessed the horrifying scene. He stared at Eunid in disbelief, his mouth slightly agape, as if struggling to comprehend what had just happened. Eunid—his Eunid—had killed his own father.

Eunid didn’t flinch, his fierce eyes cold as steel. There was no remorse, no hesitation. The innocence that once defined him was gone, buried under layers of bitterness and betrayal. He turned to Old Fang, his expression unreadable, yet deadly. "Clean up this mess," Eunid ordered, his tone devoid of emotion. "And arrange a meeting with the elders. Immediately."

As Eunid walked away, his presence commanding the room, Old Fang realized, with a sinking heart, that the sweet boy who once refused to harm his enemies out of love was no more. This was no longer the Eunid he had cared for and protected.

The events in the Chasity family had broken him. The once gentle boy had become a monster.

Old Fang stood there, frozen, understanding that what he had just witnessed was a glimpse into the cold, unrelenting future of the Diligence family.
